This is a day to bring awareness of more than 100,000 children in foster care today that need a family and deserve the love that only a mother and father could provide. Our family is very excited to begin standing alongside families who are taking the step forward to adopt.
Lesya and I wanted to take some time to explain our decision as a family to pursue adoption. The details of this process can also be found on OUR STORY page. Our friends and family have asked us the question why not just have more children? Why go through the often difficult process of find a birth mother or birth parents? Why pay so much money?
The simple answer is after much prayer and thinking, we feel that God is calling us to adopt. And believe us, we tried a few different excuses, like maybe we should financially support an agency or how about visiting an orphanage overseas and giving them a financial gift. But the more we prayed, the more we knew that it was adoption that God wanted us to do and not something else.
Our hearts break when we hear or see the high number of children in need of a family. And so we stopped asking the why questions and started asking why not adopt? God is giving us the opportunity to become parents to a child that doesn't or won't have parents, then why turn away? We don't know exactly how things will come together, but we are certain that God has already made a way!
We can't wait to begin to forever love another child that we will call our own. And we can't even begin to imagine what amazing work God will do in this child's life for His Glory!
