After we made a decision as a family to pursue adoption via the private method, the next step was to find and meet with an attorney. The amount of adoption lawyers will vary from area to area. It is also good to look at the detailed description on the attorney websites and what area of adoption they serve.
I was grateful that the our list wasn't very long but when I researched our Syracuse area, there were several that came up that were located in Albany and Rochester.
In the process I also came across AAAA (The American Association of Adoption Attorneys). So I decided to CLICK on the FIND ATTORNEY link and see what happens. To my relief only one name came up for the Syracuse area.
We meet with the adoption attorney a couple days later and it was really nice to become more familiar with the private adoption process. He also provided us with great information in how to begin our search for a birth mother/parents.
